Well Under Way

I can officially tell you all that I am almost 100% finished with my bag. I've still got three or four rows until I'm ready to cast off, but it pretty much looks like a real purse. Kind of.

As you know, I'm knitting primarily for my Senior Project. Part of my project is to come up with some type of product to showcase what I've learned at the end of the year. My product, I think, is going to be making small hats for preemies at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence. I've got some patterns for these and will hopefully get started on them soon. If I ever get off my bum and finish up my first project, that is. I also have this great sweater my mom found for me on ravelry at this link http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/owls-2. Wish me luck... I'm gonna need it. I'll keep you posted! Thanks for reading.

o...m...g

Ugh sorry everybody for my procrastinating ways. It's been well over a month since my last post... school's a killah! I've gotten quite a bit done since I started, and I even started (and am almost finished with) my first official product. I've met with my mentor a few more times now, and she's teaching me well. I learned how to purl, increase, and I only mess up every 3 or 4 rows now! I'm still quite a ways away from knitting a full outfit head to toe, but I'm getting there.
Senior Project is truckin' full speed ahead, so I've got my hands full (literally). Please, if I ever take this long to update again, feel free to virtually smack me. Again, thanks for reading!

(My purl stitch... it's at the top there... I know it's hard to see)

Casted On

Hey girl hey!

I don't have a ton of time to mess around on the computer right now, as I have work in approx 2 seconds. So, here are some photos of what I've got done so far. Pretty proud of my achievements:

edit:: 'aight, now that I'm back home, I'll go over what I've learned thus far. This past Sunday, I met up with my mentor for my very first knitting lesson. It was fuh-lipping sweet. I was super excited to get started, and I had no idea that I'd learn so much in just a short hour. I learned to cast on, (took me a good 20 mins to figure it out, but I hooked 'er on eventually) gain tension in muh fingers to gimme a nice tight grip, and I even started a knit stitch. 'twas truly epic. Now, I feel like I'm what you might call a "pro". Well, since it is now officially a school night, it's time to hit the sack at a relatively early hour. I bid you all adieu. Have a pleasant eve.

Hello All!

So, I am starting a blog to showcase what may be a long and hopefully not-so-painful journey into the world of knitting! I'll be learning all the ins and outs and ups and downs and increases and decreases and... well whatever else there is to learn about crafting clothes with a couple of needles and some yarn.

I'll be a senior in high school this year, which means I'm going to have to participate in this big deal called "Senior Project". Basically, we all have to choose a topic of interest that will have us incorporate a learning stretch of some level, find a mentor to guide us, and then eventually display what we've learned all year in front of a panel of judges who decide whether or not we can essentially graduate. Yay!

As you can see, I've chosen knitting as my topic of interest. I'll be blogging about all my faults and.. erm, "frogs" as the pros call it, and hopefully some triumphs as well. School starts in about a week, so I'll talk to you all once I get started. Thanks for reading, and tune in next time for another exciting installment of...

THE PURL PROJECT!
